Project Abstract:
Obesity is a disorder that involves excessive body fat accumulation that increases the risk of numerous health problems. It is a prevalent issue throughout the globe: over one billion people are now living with obesity. Through examining the body from a holistic lens – looking at genetics, neurology, physiology, and movement, we aim to elucidate the mechanisms and effects of obesity.
We employed machine learning models, performed genetic analysis, and conducted neuroimaging to analyze feeding behaviors in relation to body fat. We found that weight is not directly proportional to caloric intake, debunking the myth that calorie-restricted diets are effective for weight loss.
